International Payroll Specialist
Help shape the future of international payroll in a growing global SaaS company!
About the role
Are you an experienced payroll professional who wants to do more than run payroll? In this role, you will have the opportunity to build, improve and scale international payroll processes in a modern, fast-growing SaaS environment. We are looking for an International Payroll Specialist who enjoys taking ownership, creating structure and making payroll work smoothly across multiple countries.
This is a role for someone who wants to combine hands-on payroll expertise with process development, stakeholder collaboration and the chance to make a real impact as we continue to grow internationally.
In this role, you will be part of the Finance department and report to the Director of Financial Operations. You will work closely with People & Culture, Finance, managers and external payroll providers to ensure accurate, timely and high-quality payroll delivery across our markets.
What you will do
· Take full ownership of end-to-end international payroll delivery, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and high-quality standards.
· Map current local payroll workflows and design a unified, scalable global payroll operating model that improves efficiency and reduces manual errors.
· Standardize and optimize payroll processes connected to onboarding and offboarding, ensuring smooth data flow between HR, managers and external vendors.
· Act as system owner for payroll and time-attendance platforms, driving improvements and ensuring reliable system usage.
· Evaluate, select, negotiate with and implement external payroll providers in both new and existing markets.
· Lead payroll-related projects from start to finish, including implementation plans, timelines, budgets and change management across local entities.
· Ensure international payroll processes comply with local tax laws, labour regulations and data privacy standards such as GDPR.
· Coordinate external payroll audits and support strong payroll governance across all markets.
· Act in line with our company values: Take Ownership, Build Trust, Drive Innovation and Succeed Together.
About you
· Have higher education within payroll from a Swedish institution, such as vocational education/YH, or a degree in payroll administration.
· Bring several years of qualified payroll experience, preferably from a coordinating or leadership role.
· Have solid experience managing and scaling payroll across multiple countries simultaneously.
· Have experience selecting, negotiating with and managing external global payroll providers such as Papaya Global, ADP or Deel.
· Enjoy collaborating closely with People & Culture/HR teams, Finance and external partners.
Skills & systems
· Strong Excel skills and confidence working with payroll data, reports and reconciliations.
· Experience working with modern HRIS platforms such as Workday, HiBob or Humaans, and an understanding of how they integrate with payroll ecosystems.
· Fluency in both English and Swedish, with the ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
· Experience with Visma is considered a plus, or a willingness to develop your knowledge further.
Personal attributes
· You are structured, detail-oriented and comfortable working in an environment where accuracy, confidentiality and discretion are essential.
· You take ownership of your work and enjoy improving processes, simplifying workflows and creating structure where needed.
· You are a clear and collaborative communicator who can build trust with internal stakeholders, external providers and colleagues across different countries.
· You are proactive, solution-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
· You are curious, pragmatic and motivated by contributing to a payroll function that supports both employees and the business.
